4. Cookies

We use cookies in some areas of our website. These file elements can identify your computer as a technical unit while you visit this website in order to make it easier for you to use it, even on repeat visits.

However, you normally have the option to set up your internet browser to inform you about the use of cookies so that you can allow or exclude them and delete existing cookies.

Please use the help function in your internet browser to find information about changing these settings. We would like to point out that individual functions of our website may not work if you have deactivated the use of cookies.

Cookies do not allow a server to read private data from your computer or data stored by another server. They do not cause any damage to your computer and do not contain viruses.

Cookies are processed to improve the functionality of our website. It is therefore necessary to protect our legitimate interests.

5. google analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

Google Analytics uses cookies, which are text files placed on your computer, to analyse your use of the website. The information generated by the cookies about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, if IP anonymisation is activated on this website, your IP address will first be truncated by Google within member states of the European Union and other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. Google will use this information on our behalf to analyse your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide us with other services relating to website activity and internet usage. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics shall not be merged with other Google data. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser. However, please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. You can also prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the website (including your IP address) and from processing this data by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at the following link (http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de).

We would like to indicate that on this website Google Analytics has been extended by the code “gat._anonymizeIp();” to ensure anonymised collection of IP addresses (IP masking).

You can also prevent Google Analytics from collecting data by clicking on the following link. An opt-out cookie will then be set to prevent further collection of your data when you visit this website. This option is particularly recommended when accessing our website via mobile devices.

You can find more information on terms of use and data protection at www.google.com/analytics/terms/gb.html or at www.google.com/intl/de/analytics/privacyoverview.html

6. Social plug-ins

We use social plug-ins so that you can share articles from our website on your social media channels.

a.    Facebook

We use the Facebook plug-in on our website. Facebook is an internet service of Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA, hereinafter referred to as “Facebook”.

If the plug-in is stored on one of the pages you visit on our website, your internet browser will download a representation of the plug-in from the Facebook servers in the USA. For technical reasons, Facebook needs to process your IP address. The date and time of your visit to our website are also recorded.

If you are logged in to Facebook while you visit one of our pages with the plug-in, the information collected by the plug-in about your specific visit will be recognised by Facebook. Facebook may assign the information collected in this way to your personal user account there. If you use the Facebook “Like” button, for example, this information will be stored in your Facebook user account and possibly published via the Facebook platform. If you would like to prevent this, you must either log out of Facebook before visiting our website or use an add-on for your internet browser to prevent the Facebook plug-in from loading.

Facebook provides further information about the collection and use of data as well as your rights and protection options in this regard in the data protection information available at https://www.facebook.com/policy.php.

b.    Instagram

Functions of the Instagram service are integrated on our pages. These functions are offered by Instagram Inc., 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA. Instagram has been a subsidiary of Facebook Inc. since 2012 and is a Facebook product. The inclusion of Instagram content on our website is called embedding. This allows us to show you content such as buttons, photos and videos from Instagram directly on our website. When you visit web pages on our website that have an integrated Instagram function, data is transmitted to Instagram and then stored and processed. Instagram uses the same systems and technologies as Facebook. Your data can therefore also be processed across other Facebook companies.

If you are logged in to your Instagram account, you can link the content from our pages to your Instagram profile by clicking on the Instagram button. This allows Instagram to associate your visit to our pages with your user account. As the provider of the pages, we would like to point out that we have no knowledge of the content of the transmitted data or its use by Instagram.

Further information on this can be found in Instagram’s privacy policy: https://instagram.com/about/legal/privacy/.

7. Embedded YouTube videos

We embed YouTube videos on our website. The operator of the corresponding plug-ins is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA, hereinafter referred to as “YouTube”.

When you visit a page with the YouTube plug-in, a connection to YouTube servers is established. YouTube is informed of which pages you visit. If you are logged in to your YouTube account, YouTube can assign your surfing behaviour to you personally. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account beforehand.

If a YouTube video is started, the provider uses cookies that collect information about user behaviour.

Further information on the purpose and scope of data collection and its processing by YouTube can be found in the privacy policy. The privacy policy also contains further information on your rights and setting options to protect your privacy: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=gb&gl=de.
